Allen McCutchan, MD, MSc, is a Professor of Medicine, Emeritus (active); Division of Infectious Diseases in the Department of Internal Medicine at UCSD. He has led studies of the epidemiology and treatment of HIV and its complications for over 30 years generating over 300 publications. He also directed an 8-year program of assistance in HIV care in Ethiopia sponsored by the US President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and helped to found and co-direct the HIV Neurobehavioral Research Program which studies the effects of HIV on the brain. He co-directs a Masters of Advanced Studies in Clinical Research program (MAS-CR) at UCSD that provides training in methods of clinical research to US and visiting Saudi Arabian physicians, UCSD medical students, and employees from San Diego’s large biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries.
