Name: Heyam Fawaz Dalky PhD, RN

Current Position:

Assistant Professor/Vice Dean, Community Mental Health Department, Faculty of Nursing, Jordan University of Science & Technology, Irbid, Jordan

Participation in the Jordan RCR Program:

I decided to participate in the Jordan RCR Program to gain more insights about research ethics from different perspectives. This course will increase my knowledge and offer new information about various aspects of ethics that we might encounter during our academic profession, clinical practice, epidemiology or bioethics research studies and other important aspects of ethics and conduct of research.

My Research Ethics Related Interests:

My research interest is psychiatric/mental health related topics. I have conducted studies related to stigma perception among family caregivers of relatives with mental illnesses. I’m also interested in studying quality of life of this patients’ group and their families. Conducting research among this patients group carries many ethical issues especially in the country of Jordan where more and more institutional, administrative, and political support in the field of psychiatry is needed.   Jordan as well as other countries in the neighborhood; are facing many challenges related to mental health. Thus, I’m hoping this course will help me gaining advanced knowledge and practice in how to best approach and study psychological problems that are threatening our nations.
