Name: Hana Abu-Hassan MB BS, MRCGP, JBFM
Current position: Assistant Professor, University of Jordan-School of Medicine-Family Medicine Consultant.
Participation in the RCR program:
Through working with refugee populations on pro-bono missions in both Jordan and Greece, I have had a lot of exposure to working with human subjects and vulnerable people. I find that research involving human subjects raises a host of social and political controversial issues. The research ethics fellowship program covers a great deal of my day-to- day work and research areas. Ethical benchmarks are yet to be established in our region with ongoing changes in our societies and cultures due to the political unrest in the region.
My Research Ethics Related Interests:
I am a Family Physician holding an academic post at the University of Jordan-School of Medicine, where I conduct research and teach both medical students and Family Medicine residents. I also work at a Family Medicine clinic based at Jordan University Hospital which covers patients in the capital, Amman, and other low resource settings in rural Jordan. I have a special interest in refugee healthcare and mental health.
