Kenneth Goodman, PhD, FACMI, FACE

Dr. Kenneth Goodman is a distinguished Professor of Medicine at the University of Miami, holding appointments across multiple departments, including Philosophy, Epidemiology and Public Health, Electrical and Computer Engineering, School of Nursing and Health Studies, and Anesthesiology. With a diverse academic background, Dr. Goodman is renowned for his expertise in research ethics and has made significant contributions to various interdisciplinary fields.
As the founder and director of the University of Miami Bioethics Program and its Pan American Bioethics Initiative, Dr. Goodman has played a pivotal role in advancing ethical discourse and policy development in the realms of medicine and public health. Under his leadership, the Ethics Programs at the University of Miami have garnered international recognition, recently designated as a World Health Organization Collaborating Center in Ethics and Global Health Policy, one of only six in the world.
Dr. Goodman’s extensive involvement in professional organizations underscores his commitment to promoting ethical practices in healthcare and research. He chaired the Ethics Committee of the American Medical Informatics Association and co-founded the Ethical, Legal and Social Issues Working Group within the organization.
